December 07 "cliposphere" roundup

December 2007 end of month you tube numbers see music top out with 2 of the top 5 slots:

#1 Britney closes out December with the almost 6 million view clip and #1 in Music "Piece of Me"

#2 A cute pussy (from Japan?) blasts to #1 in pets & animals with 20 seconds of just standing there at 3 million views proving that cute is .... captivating ? ....

#3 Chris Brown comes in at #3 Music as well for "with you" reminding us along with Britney that the cliposphere truly is where music is headed as people don't just want to listen for free now they want to watch for free as well !

#4 Potter Puppet Pals with "Good Wizard Swears" get nipple into the script very fast for about 3 million in 3 weeks and snag the #1 comedy slot

#5 with 2.8 million views and a blast against my space, you tube deletions and much more and #1 in people and blogs is a comment on the cliposhhere from one more angle

And the X mas rest:

Happy Tree Friends simply own Film & Animation with the top 4 slots and 5 million plus views in total.

In "sport" over a million people seem to have been sucked into a silent still photo of a boxing ring and close to a million enjoyed the mayhem that's track cycling .. no animals got hurt in the making of this video or so we are told : roll on Beijing 2008!

Last but not least the Education category made us ask how did Perez Hilton top it with a promotional video for his VH1 show when the star of the cliposphere in December 07 has to be "hotforwords" !

"Hot for words" grabs 8 of the top 12 slots and captures 3 million plus views ......... Hot Dog indeed !......

As for comedy xmas in the cliposhere three of the best closed out 2007 with these gems:

The high life ...

The high kicking life ...

and... The hyper life ...

What The Buck - going strong

Michael Buckley caught our eye when he jumped up the rankings with his opportunistic clip "Lonely Girl 15 is Dead" and with 1.6 million views now his moment in the cliposphere had truly arrived.

First as Peron75 on "you tube" and then as "whatthebuck" at least two sides of "the Buck" are right there for all to see and follow. With a composite following of close to 100,000 subscribers his clips reach over 100,000 views very swiftly these days and many times that.

When Miss Teen USA "South Carolina" lost here way 1.2 million people got a taste of what the Buck had to say and he didn't hold back ... not a bit ...

With a website www.buckhollywood.com and an "agent" it can't be too long before he has to give up his "day job".

On November 11th 2007 Buck spoke directly to his viewers about sponsorship deals and an up-coming meetings with FOX on his more intimate Peron75.

Not an overnight success or a "one clip wonder" (check out his earlier clips - there are a lot) Michael Buckley has been around a while now and looks here to stay; lets hope he gets the big break to TV that he truly deserves and at the same time keeps his face in the cliposhere

Tay Zonday "cherry time"

Tay Zonday came out of nowhere on April 22nd 2007 coining a song name based on his searches on Google and bursting into the cliposphere with his smash Chocolate Rain.

Combining his unique and outsize voice in a young frame he hit the internet hard with an even more unique set of repetitive yet catchy lyrics and a melody that was as annoying as it was haunting.

After turning up on a few talk shows he had cemented his place in the world of clip legends : the original clip now having reached over 12.5 million views in just 8 months.

Unlike many "one clip wonders" by November 29th Zonday had hooked up with Dr. Pepper and was flogging soda with his dulcet tones.

In late September he was talking about what "that chocolate rain guy" might be selling .... so now at close to 2 million pairs of internet eyeballs in under a month on Youtube alone (that's close to a 3000 views/hr average) we know.

What he may be selling next is hard to say but Tay Zonday has gone from an unknown yet clever guy with a sheet behind him and a mike in front to a known talent with backing singers, dancers and a commercial video in the cliposphere.

"is it possible to monetize Youtube?" he was asked "i think the jury is still out on that one" he said on Sept. 28; whilst only 60,000 people were interested in hearing what he had to say in his Q&A part 1 ... by the time it came to part 2 of his Q&A about half appeared to have tuned out or been turned off. Even in the cliposphere it's the creative output that viewers want; explaining how you did it is apparently much less interesting right now in this case.

Jeff Dunham - A star turn

From zero to the number 8 Youtube-ranked entertainment clip, 20 million views (at least), Jeff Dunham has become an international star.

Check out the man behind the clip at www.jeffdunham.com.

His amazing talent is now reaching millions of viewers a week in the cliposphere off the back of just 10 minutes of content posted in the last week of September.

The cliposphere has taken Jeff Dunham's home page from nothing to being one of the top 70,000 sites globally by traffic ranking.
